The Lake Norman Monster Mystery

The Lake Norman Monster Mystery

Lore has it that there is a lake monster living in Lake Norman, NC, and his name is Normie. When you look at water monsters since the beginning of time, names like “Loch Ness,” “Moby Dick,” “the Kraken,” “Orca” and “Hydra” fill the web with scary stories of sightings and illustrations from people’s recollections. But none quite as mystifying as “Normie” from Lake Norman.

“Well, we have not had an actual sighting that we can verify from our popular part of Lake Norman,” said Lowry Hobbs of Westport Marina. “But we have had people tell us that they saw something very large deep in the lake from their boat’s radar, but nothing that we can see any evidence of so far.”

Verifying the Lake Norman Lake Monster: The Search for Normie

In June of 2006, Capt. Gus Gustafson lead a small film crew on an expedition to find the Lake Norman Monster. This short video highlights Capt. Gus’ knowledge of the Lake Norman Monster.

Then there was a video interview of Capt. Gus Gustafson done in 2010 by a college student. You can watch that video below.

Also on the web are comments from people saying that strange things happened while they were on the lake fishing and boating. You can see the comments below from a bystander as recent as 2015.
