Lake Norman Boating Community Prepares for Charity Event
What’s better than spending a beautiful Saturday cruising Lake Norman with the waves chopping under your Jet Ski? What if we told you that you could do just that, while raising money for a worthy cause?
The Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club is hosting the 2nd Annual DAM2DAM Jet Ski Charity Ride this Saturday. The 60-mile ride celebrates Lake Norman boating by allowing participants the opportunity to ride from one end of the lake to the other. Proceeds raised from the charity event will be spilt between the Lake Norman Rotary Club Foundation and towards efforts to rebuild the East Lincoln Rescue Park.
“The boaters of Lake Norman are truly a community,” said Lowry Hobbs of Westport Marina, “We are proud to be apart of such an active community.”

The charity ride will begin at 8 a.m. at Beatty’s Ford Park, just off Unity Church Road in Denver. The riders will head south to Cowan’s Ford Damn on the southern end of the dam before starting their journey through the entire length of Lake Norman and part of the Catawba River. The end of the ride will be marked at Lookout Shoals Dam and the southern tip of Governors Island. After the long ride, participants will get to enjoy a catered lunch provided by Village Inn Pizza.
If you are interested in taking part of this year’s DAM2DAM Jet Ski Charity Ride, the entry fee will be $35 per rider and $25 for each registered riding partner. You can register online or call 704-483-8689 for more information. Last year’s event raised nearly $3,000.
“Lake Norman is a lot bigger than some people may think,” said Hobbs. “Most people are only familiar with a small portion of the lake. This ride is the perfect opportunity for them to safely discover new parts while also supporting a good cause.”
